Chillin at the Park

This weekend we finally got around to taking Avery to our local neighborhood park, where there's a little lake with ducks. We spread out a couple of beach towels and sat her down, and watched her immediately do a thorough assessment of her surroundings - grass, trees, kids, ducks, sun, clouds. She loved it! Flapping her arms, running her toes and fingers through the grass, and staring at kids running by as they tried to throw sticks at the ducks lounging in the water.

Although I must add that this weekend was slightly overshadowed by her first major constipation - um, NOT FUN AT ALL. She had pureed squash, carrots, and rice cereal in the preceeding days leading up to the weekend, but we did notice that she didn't feel like drinking as much milk/formula so we gave her more solids, which probably made it worse, in retrospect. Oops.

Enjoying a drink in her new sippy cup. My neighbor Elaine suggested the Born Free sippy cups, which is SO much better than the Avent ones, in that she doesn't need to suck really hard to get the liquid. Atleast now she gets that liquid comes out of the cups. Only took us 3 sippy cups to figure that one out... This is why Babies R Us decided to open a new store right down the street.

I like the park!

Daddy is clearly enjoying the park as well.

So on Sunday morning, I woke up to a very upset baby as I was changing her diaper, I realized she was pushing one out. The poor thing started crying a low, tearful wail, and all I can do was stand and hold her hand. Howard woke up from the crying and the two of us hovered over her for a while, him massaging her tummy, me bicycling her legs. I tried making grunting noises to get her to follow me, but it backfired. Turtlehead went back in. Plan B. Howard then fed her most of a container of pureed prunes, and she happily played in her Exersaucer when - uh oh - the poo started to push again, and she started crying in the low, sad wail again. This time the "plug" came out (we hope) but she still seemed in much pain, even though the rest of the poo was not as hard. Poor Avery! The next poo has yet to rear its ugly head (chuckle. Sorry, bad humor) But hopefully the worst has passed.

I could have named this post "Avery's 1st Constipation" but I figured then you'd never read it. hehe GOTCHA!

**OK, no more graphic content after this**

So after the ordeal, we met up with buddy Jasmine and her 'rents, Maria and Jerome at the park again for Subway lunches, boba, and good old fashion sunshine. We had had so much fun the day before at the park, we decided to go again, this time with company! Avery was very excited to hang out with Auntie Maria and Uncle Jerome and BFF Jasmine, and kept getting into people's personal spaces, grabbing toys that weren't hers, stuffing it her mouth, taking whatever Jasmine had in her hands, stuffing that in her mouth too, etc. Auntie Maria brought her a Pooh balloon, which Avery LOVED, but sadly, it was a breezy day and Avery had to watch it fly into the lake cuz Mommy forgot to secure it.

"Everything here is mine. All mine"

"This is mine." (no, that's Jasmine's)
"This is mine too" (no, that's Jasmine's shirt. Spaghettie straps, so cute!)
"That's definitely mine." (No, that's Jasmine's straw. You have one in your hand already.)
A face of a bully. Oye! I guess they learned to share the straws, as they started taking each others straws from their mouths and stuffing the other's straw in their mouths. Lovely...

Heh, love Jasmine's satisfied expression as she enjoys her straw.

Afterwards, we all went our separate ways home to take a nap. Then we went out for dinner with Avery's other BFF Kate plus her 'rents John and Elaine at Johnny Rockets. Avery and Kate got to dance to singing waiters and bang on the tables again.

Hee hee. Poser!

Aaand, here we are, grabbing everything in reach as usual.

What a fun weekend! Avery went home and promptly, with zero protest, passed out for the night. YAY!
