Road Trip to Ventura

We've been busy this weekend!...
Busy and up to no good, that's me!

Our first trip up to Ventura with Avery has been long overdue, but we finally got a day when someone wasn't sick to go and meet up with our friends Tomi, Chris, and Tomi's parents! After some anxiety on my part (I planned it out so that we would leave when she was about to take her nap, so that she could nap in the car and wake up in Ventura), we made it up to Ventura in 2 hours, refreshed and ready to socialize. Oh good. Whew.
I would be willing to drive for days to go eat at their house. Chris grills up a feast!

Tomi's almost 38 weeks, has dropped and is ready to roll any day now. So exciting!! Oh the memories come flooding back of the days/weeks before labor - the hurry-up-and-wait, the sleepless nights, the excitement of finally meeting the creature (the ultrasound tells you its human, but who knows) growing inside for the last 9 months. All you can do is to just leave the fate of your body and unborn child to the forces of nature and let your body do what comes natural, you hope. The physical and emotional release as she comes into the world, the strange feeling of utter confusion as they place the creature wiggling her arms and legs on your chest. What's this? Really?

And inside of Tomi's belly is her and Chris's baby son. Childbirth is so amazing. I am in awe. I still can't believe I did it too. But oh yes, I did it 10 months ago. I've got a baby and a decorated belly to prove it. Aaand Avery will never hear the end of it.

So I have been told by Tomi's mom Lyn that we are ridiculously spoiled by our first child being so well-behaved. Is that right, Avery? If that's true, then Mommy also wouldn't mind if you stop banging your head on something every 5 minutes. I suppose its too much to ask, heh.

She took a nap in the car, and went to sleep that night at 8:30pm. She was so wiped out that she slept til almost 10:30 the next morning! This could only mean one thing. More road trips!
