Likes and Dislikes

As the months go by and Avery grows older, she has become more opinionated, preferring certain tastes and toys, and refusing other things.

Lets start with a list of her Dislikes:
Large settings involving small children and loud noises, as you can see in this picture, haha. Here we are, in a pretty little peasant top that Grandma Chang bought for her Christmas present from her trip to Greece last year, with a big FROWN upon our face. We were attending our friends Kathy and Will's son Tyler's 2nd birthday party at a Pump It Up in Irvine. The attempt here was to get a group picture of all kids together. It was not an easy or even feasible task to line a bunch of 1 and 2 year olds up in a group shot. Avery was not happy about being put with a bunch of kids squirming and jumping around her. This is as good a picture as I caught. hehe. Oh Avery, its not that bad, don't be a baby!
Another dislike: INFLATABLES. Mortal enemy, they meet again, this time we took her inside one of them. This one was a big jumping thing with a big inflated stage in the middle where kids can throw themselves on it and climb it. We made sure it wasn't too busy with jumping kids so Avery wouldn't get too scared. But it didn't matter. She hated it anyway.haha! She didn't move once from that position in Daddy's lap. But I did manage a smile when I entertained her with some jump twists.

Diaper changes.
Major dislike. OH BOY. I pretty much have to wrestle her down and distract her with something in order for her to stay in one position long enough to take the stinky one off and strap on another one. Before, all it took was a toy and a song. Now, we've exhausted our diversion tools. It takes only a split second before she does a Chinese get-up onto her tummy and you find yourself with poop smeared on your hands and on her feet. GREAT.

Avery does, however, have alot of likes and loves! She likes:
Car rides. WEEEE!! She'll just chill out in the backseat. Doesn't really fall asleep that easily in the car like most kiddies. It usually takes her about half an hour into a car ride, and only when its been past her naptime. But if she's not sleeping, she's content to just chat with herself, look at the bit of view of cars behind us, and maybe playing with her froggie toy a bit. Last time we went up to Ventura, we just left her back there on her own, and she slept for the whole 2 hour trip, with a little wakefulness halfway through, talking to herself for a few minutes before dropping back to sleep.
Balloons. Here we are after Tyler's 2nd birthday party, with her favorite souvenir! Plastic hard toys: Balls, boxes, blocks. But she loves her balls. Its kind of funny how she is not as into stuffed animals, which was my favorite growing up. Maybe later? Grandma Chang got a fuzzy plush hot pink backpack for her from her weekend trip to Yellowstone, which had a detachable pink stuffed poodle. I kid you not, every time you put that in front of her, she throws it as far as she can can throw it. NO PINK!Putting things in her mouth that don't belong. As you can see here, she was tasting an orchid at our Saturday trip to Lowes. She also enjoys searching for random particles in the carpet and putting that in her mouth as well. Thankfully so far it has only been yarn/string pieces. And then once its in her mouth, you have about a 20% chance of fishing it out of her mouth, she is that stubborn. Once I gave up wrestling with her and settled with giving her a bottle of milk to wash down the piece of string, sigh.

She also LOVES being chased. See proof in the video below:

Um, +1. For the record, the watermelon bib is Auntie Cindy's favorite.
